PASTOR FOR FAMILY MINISTRIES AND MISSIONS

As an ordained pastor in the ELCA, the successful applicant will provide vision and leadership for two vital ministry areas: leading and serving collaboratively with the Family Ministry staff members as well as heading the Local and Global Mission Teams. This pastor will also serve as a teacher and preacher of God’s Word, and provide leadership to the congregation in collaboration with the other pastors.

WORSHIP LEADER FOR CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE

The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of three contemporary worship services. This will include working with a large number of congregational members who serve as vocalists, instrumentalists, and lay worship leaders. The Worship Leader is expected to actively lead worship both from a musical and a praise perspective.

THE CONTEXT

St. John’s, an ELCA congregation of 2,500 members with an average worship attendance of 720 per weekend, serves a community (population: 125,000) of above-average income with stable large businesses and universities. Ministries are experiencing growth under the leadership of two new pastors and financial giving is strong. A building expansion was recently completed and future construction is anticipated to accommodate the growing congregation. The ministries are well served by successful ministry teams and a church staff of 39 (14 full time, 25 part time).
