Faculty position in homiletics

The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago
The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago welcomes applications and nominations for a tenure-eligible position with primary teaching responsibilities in the area of preaching, with an appointment beginning in the fall semester of 2015. The person appointed to this position will be installed in the Axel Jacob and Gerda Maria (Swanson) Carlson Chair of Homiletics and will join a faculty committed to a lively engagement between the church and the life of the world.

The successful candidate will have a solid record in the teaching and practice of preaching, and possess a compelling research agenda in the area of preaching or a related field (e.g. Bible, practical theology, etc.). LSTC seeks to foster gender, racial-ethnic and international diversity within its faculty. Women and representatives of historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should hold a PhD or its equivalent. Rank is open.

Responsibilities include teaching courses in preaching and other areas of expertise; preparing and advising students in candidacy for rostered ministries in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and in other church bodies; and working with students in all degree programs, including the ecumenical DMin and ACTS DMin in Preaching Program. This seminary values a collegial and collaborative approach to teaching, governance, and community life.

Please send a letter of application, CV, and three letters of recommendation to Dr. Benjamin M. Stewart, chair of the search committee, at homiletics.search@lstc.edu by Nov. 14, 2014. All materials should be submitted electronically.
