Sunday school: It isn't what it used to be
Old: Learning Bible stories. New: Forming, practicing faith

n some corners of the ELCA, the Sunday school flannelgraph has been replaced by computers and opening music is now led by a band. And in almost every church from Abilene to Zumbrota, Sunday school is no longer just about a faithful teacher and a roomful of kids.

These days, it’s about teaching teams, learning centers, service projects, intergenerational faith sharing and a strong tie to worship. But it’s also about a faithful teacher and a roomful of kids. Whether it’s 1959 or 2009, Sunday school is still about relationships and faith.
