Citing "rampant" bias against Muslims in the British press, leaders of the Muslim Council of Britain urged the country's 1.8 million Muslims to "build bridges" with journalists and people of other faiths.
Muslim journalist Medhi Hassan called Islamophobia a "socially acceptable form of bigotry" in some circles, and blamed his own profession for "Islamophobic headlines, editorials, columns, imagery."
