To ease confession confusion, U.S. Roman Catholic Church officials have approved an iPhone app. For a one-time download fee of $1.99, the app leads faithful who are in (or about to enter) a confessional booth through the church's rite of penance.
It lists appropriate responses to a priest's exhortations and questions to see which of the Ten Commandments the person has broken.
Questions range from "Have I been involved with superstitious practices?" to "Have I mutilated myself through any form of sterilization?"
Users can create profiles with "custom examinations of conscience" and "custom sins." The developer, Little iApps, said it's not a substitute for a priest.
