Lifeway, the official publisher of the Southern Baptist Convention, suspended putting warning labels on some books it sold as ones that "could be considered inconsistent with historical evangelical theology."
For four years, the Nashville-based publisher had advised buyers to "read with discernment" works by Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, Donald Miller and others.
Chris Rodgers, Lifeway director of product standards and customer relations, said the labels "were not warnings" but an attempt to provide more information.
