Help for New Zealand

After a Feb. 22 earthquake devastated Christchurch, New Zealand's second-largest city, Lutheran Church of New Zealand President Robert Erickson asked for prayer and support.

The church is a district of the Lutheran Church of Australia, a member of the Lutheran World Federation. At presstime, more than 150 people were estimated to have died and workers had begun removing the bodies of visitors from the Anglican Christ Church Cathedral. The spire of the cathedral, a major tourist attraction, collapsed.

To help, send checks (write "New Zealand Earthquake" on the memo line) to ELCA International Disaster Response, 39330 Treasury Center, Chicago, IL 60694-9300; give by credit card at 800-638-3522 or the ELCA website.
