Boycott of Anglican summit

Seven of 38 leaders of Anglican provinces worldwide boycotted a biennial Anglican summit Jan. 25-30 in Dublin.

The London Times said some refused to attend because of the presence of Katharine Jefferts Schiori, bishop of the Episcopal Church USA, which has some elected gay and lesbian bishops.

Archbishops from the global south said in a Jan. 21 statement that they'd been given too little time to prepare and feared the meeting would be "just another gathering that again cannot bring about effective ecclesial actions."
