A Pennsylvania judge is weighing whether a street preacher can be banned from approaching students at a bus stop.
The school district sought a permanent injunction to keep Stephen Garisto away. Saying he has a constitutional right to evangelize students, Garisto told the court: "My intention is to get [these children] saved and to get them discipled."
Judge Jeannine Turgeon told Garisto that while his intentions might be pure, his actions mimic those commonly associated with pedophiles and child abductors.
"Mr. Garisto, you're not Mr. Rogers," she said, invoking the children's TV icon. "In our culture we tell children, 'Do not talk to strangers.' "
