Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Ind., like so many other faith-based organizations, is stretched in these economic times. But the church's angel tree was still collecting assistance for those in need at Christmastime.
The staff shared the story of a young adult woman who returned to church after more than 20 years. She had fallen on hard times after both parents died. She became acquainted with Trinity English because her foster parents are members.
The woman brought to church a sealed bag with her left front tooth in it, seeking only the name of a dentist who might replace it so she could look more presentable to interview for jobs. A local dentist helped, the church paid a nominal fee, and two weeks later she came back to thank the staff and tell of her job possibilities.
