In 1980, Carl and Beverly Allert confirmed these youth at Fridem Lutheran Church, Lengby, Minn.
Fridem or "friendly home" (pronounced 'Freed-hem') was first organized by Swedish families in 1911.
Today the congregation is still confirming youth, but now posts confirmands' class schedule and lessons on its website.
