World's largest Christ statue

A Polish church in Swiebodzin, some 19 miles from the German border, is now home to the largest statue of Christ in the world.

The 213-foot concrete statue is 40 feet taller than Brazil's Christ the Redeemer statue, and is visible for at least 10 miles in any direction.

The project was controversial in the region, with some Roman Catholics concerned about stewardship issues and others worried about safety after an early accident where the statue's head fell and crushed a worker's foot.
