Dolled up or dressing down?

Readers sound off on Sunday 'go to meeting' clothes

Cheryl Gatling calls the move to more casual church clothes "good Lutheran theology."

"God's kingdom is a come-as-you-are party. We don't fix ourselves up and then come to God. We come to God, and then God fixes us up," says Gatling, 38, a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Liverpool, N.Y.

Gatling and more than 25 other readers responded to a survey on The Lutheran's Web site that asked: What do you wear to church and why? And, does your church have an unspoken dress code?
