Jacqueline Belzer, ministry coordinator of Pueblo de Fe Lutheran Church, West St. Paul, Minn., meets weekly with two groups for Bible study. At one of the studies, the group waited while the host searched for her Bible. That got Belzer thinking: Would we spend more time with Scripture if our Bibles were more available?
While her Internet search found only cookbook holders, she was determined to offer a Bible holder to every family at Pueblo de Fe. Vern Rice, chair of Local Mission Partners, suggested a carpenter, who designed the Bible stand (held by Carmen Stewart Martinez in photo).
At a June worship service, 10 Bible holders were presented to families by Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Brighton, Minn. As members join Pueblo de Fe, they'll also be presented with a holder. Belzer hopes the stands will encourage members to spend more time with Scripture. Funds for the project come from the Local Mission Partners of the St. Paul Area Synod.

What a fantastic idea. I think it looks so beautiful to see the scriptures displayed proudly in a home. I'm going to bring this idea to my church!
