Finnish bishop defrocked

The Church of Finland defrocked the leader of its traditionalist movement, the Luther Foundation, saying Bishop Matti Väisänen violated his ordination vows to the state church by accepting consecration at the hands of Swedish and African Lutheran bishops.

The Luther Foundation was formed in 1999 as a confessional movement within the state church for those opposed to the ordination of women.
