Central Lutheran Church, Portland, Ore., recently saved its historic bell tower from the ravages of dry rot.
Led by member Hazel Larpenteur, more than $155,000 was raised to replace the original wood structure.
Larpenteur said $76,000 came from Oregon community charitable foundations.
Architect Pietro Belluschi, a former dean of the School of Architecture and Planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, designed the tower and church building.
