Former executive dies

Harvey A. Stegemoeller, 81, executive director of the ELCA Foundation from 1987 to 1996, died Sept. 5. He "was the architect of what we know today as the ELCA Foundation. His work is evident as planned gifts established long ago mature to provide significant support for ministry around the world, and income from endowments distribute critical annual support to congregations, synods and a wide variety of ministry expressions across this church," said Cynthia J. Halverson, executive for the ELCA Foundation and Development Services.

Stegemoeller also served as president of two colleges: Concordia, a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod school in St. Paul, Minn., and Capital, Columbus, Ohio. For a complete obituary, visit the ELCA News Service.
