Now what? Stewardship is for all ages

Putting money in the offering plate teaches children to share with others

Q: It's stewardship month in our congregation and everyone is thinking about their financial pledges for the upcoming year. Should we have our children contribute too?

designpicsA: Encouraging your children to put money in the offering plate teaches them to share with others.

Explain to your kids that contributing money to your congregation helps the church share God's love in a variety of ways, such as providing clothes and food to people in need.

Give small children a few coins to add to the Sunday offering. For older children, the message of sharing takes on an even deeper meaning when they give a portion of their own money from allowances, odd jobs or part-time work.

Ask your church leaders about providing envelopes just for them.
