Church leaders criticized the British government's plans to deport failed asylum-seekers.
Justice Minister Kenneth Clarke seeks to cut the legal aid budget, a move that would end repeated legal challenges to failed asylum claims and deportation orders.
Church leaders said tens of thousands of asylum-seekers and immigrants would no longer receive legal aid.
"Cutting the legal aid budget puts already vulnerable people at greater risk of being returned to dangerous situations," said Rachel Lampard, public issues head of Britain's Methodist Church.
