Han Sang-ryeol, 60, a Presbyterian pastor who advocates for reunification of Korea, was arrested for breaking a South Korean law by visiting North Korea.
South Korean police took Han into custody Aug. 19 after a 70-day visit to North Korea, where he was warmly welcomed, according to news reports.
Shin Seung-Min, a Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea ecumenical leader, said Han's visit was "to open the way to reconciliation."
