Even the bells cry out

Church bells rang across Britain in September to mark U.N. General Assembly talks on biodiversity and species protection.

"Ringing the church bells is a great way for the wider community to be reminded and to celebrate the beauty of creation," said Jill Hopkinson, the Church of England 's national rural officer.

This year is the U.N.'s "International Biodiversity Year," drawing attention to the failure to meet targets to stop a global loss of biodiversity by 2010.
