Pastor for Jerusalem

Frederick Strickert, a former religion professor at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, is the new pastor of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, an English-speaking congregation in Jerusalem.

He will also serve as a special assistant to Munib Younan, bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land who was recently elected president of the Lutheran World Federation.

Strickert and his wife, Gloria, were called as ELCA mission personnel. Gloria Strickert hopes to continue her hospital chaplaincy work in Jerusalem.

Strickert replaces Mark Holman, whose wife Marcia also served as a missionary in Jerusalem.
