Global giving is big

More than $830,000 in global mission support came from just two ELCA congregations: First Lutheran in Freeport, Ill., and Roseville [Minn.] Lutheran, according to the ELCA News Service.

First created an endowment fund that supports global work, including ELCA World Hunger, ELCA disaster response efforts, La Frontera Ministries in Mexico, Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem and more.

Roseville member David Tetzlaff said the church tithes and invites missionaries to speak to the congregation. "Giving is a big part of what we do as Christians," he said.
