V. Scott Koerwer, a senior business school administrator, entrepreneur and authority on leadership and strategy, was named the 21st president of Newberry [S.C.] College. He was formerly deputy dean and clinical professor of management at the University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business, Columbia. "[Koerwer] has accomplished great things at colleges and universities of eminence," said Billy Walker, chair of the Newberry Board of Trustees. "He will be a dynamic and enterprising leader."

Lea F. Schweitz was appointed director of the Zygon Center for Religion and Science by the Center for Advanced Study in Religion and Science and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, the Zygon's co-sponsors. Schweitz, assistant professor of systematic theology/religion and science at LSTC, has served as the center's associate director for more than two years. The Zygon Center offers research conferences, public lectures and graduate-level courses. It sponsors a student society, a student symposium series, and a study emphasis in religion and science.
