Electing bishops

'Our prayers have been answered'

Synod assemblies this spring are electing more than a dozen new bishops. Here's a composite picture of how that process works:

Friday, 7:30 p.m. I've described the election process to the assembly. Now I'm reviewing the biblical description of a bishop and the list of duties in this church's constitution. On this first ballot, every voting member may nominate any one of our 17,000 pastors. We pray the Spirit will guide us to find the one with the right set of gifts for this synod.
