Lutheran Volunteer Corps received a $100,000 grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to help increase programming to Atlanta and Detroit/Port Huron, Mich., and to expand volunteer placement in 16 cities.
"We're seeing record numbers of applicants and it's exciting to be able to add more placement sites," said Sue Gaeta, developmental director. LVC volunteers serve in social justice organizations on issues such as education, food security and health care.
