After a cholera outbreak took the lives of more than 20 people and left more than 80 hospitalized in Nigeria in June, the Minneapolis Area Synod began praying for its companion partner, the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria.
Last November, a cholera outbreak killed more than 25 Lutherans from the Mubi congregation in Nigeria's Adamawa State.
Since clean water is the best defense, the synod's and the Nigerian church's water teams are working together to drill wells, clean contaminated wells, and provide sanitation and hygiene training for communities.
