Organization dissolves

The board of the women's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada voted in June to dissolve and cease operations.

According to a letter from Susan C. Johnson, ELCIC national bishop, the decision came as "a shock to many and left a host of unanswered questions regarding the future for women's ministries in the ELCIC." As part of its dissolution, Evangelical Lutheran Women Inc. created a fund for congregational expressions of the organization.
