It's time for another installment of why the magazine does what it does. I don't expect every reader to agree, but I do ask that you keep an open mind and not judge us solely on any one issue.
Several readers noticed an uptick in the number of what can only be described as vitriolic letters to the editor. A few questioned the wisdom of publishing these. They are concerned it will hurt the morale of other readers currently content with the ELCA, the magazine and their faith life in general. Others see a conspiracy: running letters of irate readers marginalizes everyone with similar but less extreme views.
