Outside Europe, Catholic growth According to the Vatican's 2010 yearbook, the world's Roman Catholics grew to 1.17 billion in 2008, an 11 percent increase from 2000. Most of the growth came from Africa, Asia and the Americas. In Europe they are 24 percent of all Roman Catholics and 40 percent of the European population. Roman Catholics in the Americas are 50 percent of the world's Roman Catholics and 63 percent of the population of the Americas. |
