On a roll

What's rarely donated but often needed by food pantries?

Toilet paper.

Lutherans collected more than 10,000 rolls (3.7 million squares) for pantries during a May "Can you Spare a Square?" toilet tissue drive in Rockford, Ill.

As part of Thrivent Financial for Lutheran's National Join Hands Day 2010, 13 congregations, Rockford Lutheran School and Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries collected the tissue for distribution to four ELCA congregation-sponsored food pantries.
