Quebec targets veils Officials in the Canadian province of Quebec introduced legislation that would bar Muslim women from receiving or delivering public services while wearing a veil. Faces would have to be visible in all publicly funded locations, including government offices, schools, hospitals and day-care centers. Head scarves would remain legal. Officials said the bill is needed to protect identity, security and communication. Montreal Muslim leaders say veil-wearing women number as few as 25. |
