Rebuilding hope

ELCA commitment to Haiti is for the long haul

In the months following the January earthquake in Haiti, ELCA-related response efforts transitioned from emergency relief to long-term recovery and reconstruction.

As of Feb. 19, ELCA Disaster Response had committed $3.45 million to its partner agencies, said Megan Bradfield, associate director for international development and disaster response.
(Update: At the April 9-12, 2010 ELCA Church Council meeting,  Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson reported that the amount committed to partner agencies is now more than $9 million.)
