'Empty Bowls' to fight hunger

Courtney Ridenour (right), a student from Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Neb., worked with Leona Fischer, a resident of an assisted living facility, to put feet on a clay bowl for the Empty Bowls Project.

Chris Bristol/Fremont [Neb.] TribunLed by Midland ceramics professor Tracy Shell, students and seniors created, fired and glazed the bowls for distribution at a March 24 ecumenical Lenten service and soup dinner — a fundraiser for area food pantries.
