Grace Lutheran, Hockessin, Del., took the first week of hosting when Family Promise of Northern New Castle County, a nonprofit begun by an interfaith network of congregations, opened in March.
"A great thing about Family Promise is that it allows a mother and father to stay with their children when they're homeless," said Tamikah Gowans, director.
At night, parents and children will bunk in a rotating pool of 11 churches.
Gowans will work with adults during the day to find them work and housing.
