Generosity, grief and hope span the ELCA

ELCA members, congregations and institutions continue to raise funds for Haiti and rally around Haitian-American members of their communities.

A boy living in a camp for homeless families helps unload food aid in Jacmel on Haiti's southern coast that was ravaged by the earthquake. The food comes from a shipment sponsored in part by Diakonie, a member of the ACT Alliance.

For fundraisers, First Lutheran Church, Pasco, Wash., teamed up with a salon to donate part of haircut proceeds, and Sheridan Lutheran, Lincoln, Neb., planned a Valentine's Day benefit concert and dinner.

In Milwaukee, ELCA musician Abe Caceres even wrote a song, "Because We Are One," (available at World House Music) that congregations can use to help drum up support.
