ELCA member helps 54 orphans in Haiti

Days after the earthquake in Haiti, Edward Sites, a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Monroeville, Pa., was at the edge of the tarmac at Port-au-Prince airport with two dozen other Americans unloading 2 tons of medical supplies from a chartered jet from Pittsburgh. They were awaiting resolution of a struggle between the Haitian government; two orphanage workers, sisters Jamie and Ali McMutrie; and the Pittsburgh-based rescue team over the fate of 54 children who were by then living next to the collapsed Brebis de Saint-Michel de L'Attalaye (BRESMA) Orphanage.
