Art Clokey, 88, animator of the TV series Davey and Goliath, died Jan. 8. In 1959 the former United Lutheran Church in America approached Clokey Productions Inc. to create a TV show similar to its Gumby series.
Clokey's son, Joe, said the series was a huge part of his dad's life. "I always tell people that Davey and Goliath represented the spiritual side of my dad. Davey and Goliath wasn't polarizing — the message always was that 'no matter who you are, God loves you.'"
