Churches resume benevolence

Members of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, N.D., voted in January to renew their benevolence to the ELCA, which they had suspended in September.

The vote to renew giving was 60 percent to 40 percent, reported the Fargo Forum. The money they'd placed in escrow since September was also given to the ELCA.

Pontoppidan's decision came days after Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo's largest ELCA church with 10,000 members, voted to send $10,000 to the denomination.
