Malawi earthquakes

Earthquakes in November and December left thousands of people homeless in Malawi's northern region of Karonga, bordering Tanzania.

At the same time, a cyclone and heavy rain struck southern Malawi, devastating the harvest.

Joseph Bvumbwe, bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi, said the earthquakes directly affected church members in Karonga.

To help, send checks (write "Malawi Earthquakes" on the memo line) to ELCA International Disaster Response, PO Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
