Ishmael Noko, general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation and a founder of Inter-Faith Action for Peace in Africa, accepted the Paul Carus Award with four other IFAPA representatives in December in Melbourne, Australia.
The award, given through the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions, honors outstanding contributions to the interreligious movement.
The 2009 award comes with a $100,000 honorarium and recognizes IFAPA's conflict-resolution work in Liberia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan and Togo.
