Church-state in Canada

Some Canadian Christian leaders urged members to ask their government to overturn funding cuts to Kairos, a faith-based ecumenical justice organization.

For more than 35 years, Kairos used state funds for overseas work, requesting $7 million for 2010-13.

While the group was initially told it no longer fit government priorities of economic growth, food security, and children and youth, one politician, Jason Kenney, told the Global Forum for Combating Anti-Semitism in Jerusalem that his government had "defunded organizations ... like Kairos for taking a leadership role in the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign" against Israel.
