Our frigid spiritual temperature

In the deep chill of 2010, hope for warmth calls for a simple gospel

Poverty, hatred, violence, death: is 2010 the time for another Reformation — another Martin Luther, another John Calvin — someone or something to guide us out of an ever-deepening morass? Our earth was created good. It's hardly good any more.

photodiscOur difficulty is rooted in human pride. Economic woes appear when we insist that things left alone will right themselves. Planetary woes come from eons of doing the wrong things. What happens to the water supply for millions when the glaciers that feed the Ganges River disappear? They are half gone already. Here in Virginia folks talk about how clear the view of the Shenandoah Valley from the Skyline Drive used to be.
