'I want ... to help'

ELCA youth deliver the gifts at Christmas

It's not always "All I want for Christmas ...." Here are ways Lutheran youth have given — and will give — to others at Christmastime.

I want to helpAt Becks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington, N.C., youth sang carols to homebound members, giving each a gift bag they had prepared. They also made Christmas cards for patients at St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

The congregation's middle- and senior-high youth sponsored a giving tree. For this project tags are placed on a tree, with a person's age and clothing size. People select tags, shop and place the gifts back under the tree so they can be distributed to families in need. Becks' youth collected gifts for five families last year.
