The Nebraska Synod is offering an alternative gift-giving program — Textbooks for Tanzania. According to the synod e-newsletter, the ratio of textbooks to students at the schools is 1 to 10 and it's not uncommon for a class of 40 students to have one book. Each $10 gift helps buy a textbook for the Lutheran secondary (high) schools of the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Nebraska's companion synod.
