A gift in a shoebox

Celeste Newcomb, a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College, Pa., was part of a short-term medical mission trip to Nicaragua last March and was surprised to learn how far a gift from Operation Christmas Child can travel. "We've been packing shoebox gifts for years and you always think about what it's like for the kids who receive them. It was such a thrill to see what those gifts meant to the children at the orphanage," she said. On Nov. 15 Grace dedicated its shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse.
