The Lutheran World Federation's secretariat will soon suffer budget cutbacks, warned Peter Stoll, LWF treasurer. In October, he reported that the global financial crisis impacts "most if not all of our member churches and related agencies." He gave the example of Germany, where the church income tax has declined by 10 to 15 percent, and Slovenia, where "church income has declined by half." The possible collapse of a Slovenian textile factory could mean a loss of 1,200 jobs, mostly held by Lutherans, he added.
