Lutheran World Relief received $1.49 million to boost its efforts to control malaria in Mali. The three-year grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development, part of the $30 million Malaria Communities Program, will allow LWR to reach 480,000 people in more than 400 rural communities — educating about the importance of prevention, timely diagnosis and treatment of malaria through farmers' cooperatives and financial institutions. Malaria is the leading cause of death in Mali.
