Well done, good and faithful servants! Many have written letters describing their responses to my January column pleading for contributions for Chechnya infants. (I apologize that I can't reply to all the letters, although I tried.) Your stories demonstrate great creativity in living the Faithway of compassion: Adult classes spent time reading related Bible passages before contributing. A public school junior high class wants to send school supplies. At one parish several people brought the article to worship so members could gather a large amount together. A combined youth group from two small Lutheran and Methodist churches sent the $207.90 profit from their Souper Bowl. A leader talked at a Sunday school opening about the article. And a 7-year-old gave his allowance for 11 weeks. What splendid examples of being the church for the world's sake.
