Sow to the Spirit

'So let us not grow weary in doing what is right'

Well done, good and faithful servants! Many have written letters describing their responses to my January column pleading for contributions for Chechnya infants. (I apologize that I can't reply to all the letters, although I tried.)

Your stories demonstrate great creativity in living the Faithway of compassion: Adult classes spent time reading related Bible passages before contributing. A public school junior high class wants to send school supplies. At one parish several people brought the article to worship so members could gather a large amount together. A combined youth group from two small Lutheran and Methodist churches sent the $207.90 profit from their Souper Bowl. A leader talked at a Sunday school opening about the article. And a 7-year-old gave his allowance for 11 weeks. What splendid examples of being the church for the world's sake.
