More female senior pastors

There are twice as many female senior pastors today (10 percent) than in 1999 (5 percent), according to the Barna Group. Of these, 58 percent belong to mainline denominations such as the ELCA, the United Church of Christ, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the United Methodist Church. These women are likely to have more education than male counterparts but usually lead smaller congregations, which may be one reason their salaries differ: $45,300 for females and $48,600 for males.
