Members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, Wis., are making a difference in Kibera, Africa’s largest slum near Nairobi, Kenya. They are building a home for more than 40 orphans. The foundation was laid over the summer on a half-acre of land, and a fence was erected to provide safety. Members Judy Wilson and Karen Koebe spent six weeks in Kenya to finalize plans, hire a contractor and buy materials. Two years ago, Wilson and Barb Selmer represented the congregation in building and equipping a school.
